Today, Andrew and I visited Lane Aviation at Port Columbus in Columbus, Ohio. We stopped by to gather more information on their maintenance shop and see what type of maintenance they do. Andy Bertrand (Aircraft Service Manager) and James Seymour (Aircraft Service Coordinator) greeted us and showed us around their shop while answering a few of our questions. They really impressed us with their vast knowledge of aircraft maintenance and they treated us as if we were the only customers they had.

Lane Aviation is the second largest independent FBO in the United States. They have been family owned and operated for over 79 years and have been a certified repair station since 1963. They were one of the very first Cessna maintenance centers in the world. With eleven A&P mechanics and two avionics technicians, Lane Aviation has an incredible estimated 150 years of experience in aircraft maintenance and approximately 80 years of experience in avionics. To top it off, every single mechanic at Lane Aviation is factory trained.

Lane Aviation puts their focus on customer service and safety. They have never had any safety issues or accidents as a result of their work in their 79 years of operation and that is one of the many reasons pilots regularly return for repeat business and maintenance. One of their regular customers travels all the way from Virginia Beach to have their Citation 525 worked on.

When asked what the most common aircraft Lane sees were, Andy said that they specialize in maintenance on manufacturers including Cessna (Citations), Socata (TBM), Piper, Beechcraft (King Air), Embraer (Legacy 550, 525), Learjet, and Gulfstream Aerospace among others. Andy mentioned that they had worked on some pretty awesome planes before. The most memorable aircraft that came to mind were a P-51 Mustang, Boeing 737, and McDonnell Douglas DC-9. Lane Aviation also perform some commercial maintenance service.

Overall, we had a phenomenal visit with Lane Aviation. They are a highly professional maintenance shop and value each individual customer highly. Lane is the type of place that you can trust with your most valuable aircraft.
